ChairmanColin BernardRecently retired I have been aeromodelling for over 60 years having been introduced via the KK Flying Scale series, through control line in my teens, then on to R/C via Single Channel, (initially through building MacGregor kits), then Galloping Ghost before reaching the pinnacle of proportional in the 80’s.
My interests are varied from slope and thermal soaring, general sports flying through to scale. Although I have a couple of I/C models, I mainly focus on electric and EDF these days.
Currently I am secretary of Blue Sky Aeromodellers and hopefully can bring some of that committee experience to area.
Career wise, although initially I was a graduate biochemist working in hospital path labs, my career migrated through sales to IT and the final 40 years I worked for both software houses and end users moving from analyst programmer through to project management then more senior levels, mostly for multi-nationals.
I live in North Derbyshire
Treasurer/
Control Line Rep
Tony BlackI am now retired but started my career with BAe Military Aircraft in Lancashire and hold an engineering degree. I have worked in product development roles with BAe & latterly JLR but I have held senior management positions in engineering companies supplying the automotive industry. For a number of years I held a PPL & was a reasonably proficient glider pilot.

My aeromodelling career commenced around the age of eight and I have built & flown free flight gliders & rubber powered models, most types of control line model and radio control power models & gliders. Recent years have seen me reviving my interest in control line models as I like the combination of satisfaction and simplicity which these models offer. I am the point of contact for control line fliers living in the Area. I am currently the secretary of the solely control line Nuneaton Model Aeronautical Society. I live in Leicestershire.
SecretaryJohn CollisterAfter retirement I was told that if I started RC flying I would become addicted, and that's exactly what happened.

Getting so much out of the hobby I wanted to put something back so volunteered for the Mids Area committee. I'm a great believer in the philosophy of the Achievement Scheme and am now an Area Chief Examiner and am busy organising AS events for our Area.
